He got himself ready for bed, letting Jack lead him around to the locker rooms and showers. He even brushed his own teeth pretty well. But when it came time to put on his pjs, Daniel took one look at the ones Jack had chosen and screamed.<br>
<br>Right thought Jack, that's why these ones look new. They were unused. He couldn't leave Daniel here alone and he couldn't lead a naked boy down the hallways of the base. He wondered for a moment or two if he could wrap him in a towel and carry him but guessed that with Daniel's dislike of being touched he would just scream the place down. <br>
<br>Jack took the offending pjs and dropped them into the trash can. Daniel looked into the can and then at Jack, frowning. Jack could see his mind trying to figure it out, but Daniel's concentration wasn't on Jack for long. He got dressed. Jack thought he would grow old waiting for him to tie his laces but didn't dare send Daniel into another screaming match. <br>
<br>He followed Jack along the corridors of the base back to the VIP quarters Jack had taken over as his own. It wasn't like there was anyone much on the base after dark. The room had been rearranged slightly to accommodate the extra bed. Daniel found his bag and put his favourite pjs on. Jack noted the difference, these were flanelette, not the stretch cotton like the others. This pair was particularly well worn and a touch too small for him but he didn't seem to mind. He took his stuffed toy, of which Jack had yet to make out it's shape and climbed into bed. <br>
<br>"Lights out," Daniel said. <br><br><br>Part 12<br>by PEJA<br><br>Next morning, Jack woke to find Daniel sitting cross legged at the foot of his bed. "Been there long, Danny boy?"<br><br>Daniel tilted his head, looking past Jack while he tugged on the blanket covering the man.<br>
<br>"Hold up there," Jack said, his fingers fisting around his covers. "Want me to get up, huh? Hungry?"<br><br>"Hungry." Daniel agreed softly. Then added "Daddy."<br><br>Jack's jaw dropped, then moved as he tried to form words that would not come. "Yeah," he said finally. "Guess or all intnets and purposes I'm your daddy. Okay with you?"<br>
<br>With a quick nod, Daniel jumped off the bed and scramble to his dresser, grabbing out a pair of jeans and shirt that he quickly dressed in before trning back to Jack, who still lie watching him from the bed. <br><br>Daniel scowled at him. "Hungry."<br>
<br>"Okay, okay," jack said managing to pull himslef from his bed. "I'm getting up."<br><br>That magical, fleeting almost smile that Jack had come to watch for ghosted over Daniel's lips as he drifted down to the floor to sit with his legs crossed, waiting for jack to get ready, and occassionally pushing him along with a quiet, "Hungry."<br>
