[Makebelieve] Tree Fic: The Rejected Lover Affair (Branch 2) Man From Uncle - chap 6-7

This is now a Tree Fic.. If a segment post inspires you to write, please do
you write us a chapter. Don't worry about if two folks write the same part,
that only gives us an additional story from the branch. Anyone who wants to
start a wren of their own, roll it on out, the more the merrier...and what
better way to shake a list out of its stupor than to have stories pouring
in, hey? Oh, and finally, for those of you who want to try your hand at
writing but have never felt comfortable in turning out a full-out story,
this would be the perfect oppportunity for you to dip your toe. we're just
having fun. Remember, no rules or structure. If you want to do a single
person response (RPG) bit, its all good. the idea is to make a story. little
bits or large scenes, its all good

Part 6

Napoleon sat heavily into the nearest chair, flipping the folded paper open
and reading over the contents. It was a crudely drawn map and a set of
directions in a handwriting that was vaguely familiar. He set it and the DVD
to one side and spread the photos out on the coffee table. The top photo was
the most innocuous. Taken from the waist up, the picture showed Illya
glaring frostily at the camera, his shirt open and tie askew. In the next
one, Illya's shirt had been removed and his face was averted. Napoleon
turned the next one over, like playing a game of Solitaire, and one at a
time, laid each picture down, carefully studying them in turn. He swalled
bile, fighting down the nausea as each one became progressively more
disturbing. The last few were the worst, showing his partner full length,
naked and hanging, his face contorted in pain.

Napoleon gathered the photos into a pile, placing them face down on the
table. He reached for the DVD and switched on the TV set.

He didn't know what he'd expected, but it hadn't been this; the face of one
of his former lovers filled the screen, her happy smile shocking under the
circumstances. Ivy Randall – Poison Ivy, Illya had named her, having been on
the receiving end of her spiteful and jealous remarks. As he watched, she
sat forward, almost as if she could actually see him, and in response he
leaned back.

"Hello, darling. Surprised?"

"You could say that," Napoleon murmured to himself.

On the screen, she sat back, resting her hands on the table in front of her.
"Well, by now I'm sure you've had time to study our little snaps.
Interesting, no? In case you're wondering, he's still alive,
if a little worse for wear. So, if you want to see your little fuck- buddy
before Paul gets too busy with him, you'd better get your ass over here. As
you may have noticed, we left a set of instructions for you. Follow them
carefully and you and blondie will be reunited." She leaned forward again,
and the smile disappeared from her face. "But try to double cross me,
Napoleon, and you… or should I say, he… will be very, very sorry." The smile
reappeared. "So, ciao, baby. Be seeing you soon." She blew a kiss and a
moment later he was looking at a blank screen.

Part 7

Napoleon's first instinct was to dash off. Get to Illya's side without a
second wasted. But he was a trained agent. He didn't act on base animal
instinct. He acted on a careful plot of give and take, but always with an
eye to keeping the odds in favor of the house. Running headlong into this
was not going to come out clean. Oh no, he knew the chances of getting both
Illya and himself out of this oh so very obvious trap if he were to jump in
without backup were definately not in their favor..

He also had no doubt that Ivy would carry out her threats against Illya if
he didn't do exactly as she had commanded. Illya's life was riding on a
lazer sharp razor.

Taking a deep breath he opened a channel to UNCLE, asking in quick short
sentences for a package pickup. He gathered up the contents of the envelope,
including the meet instructions and dropped the package in the prearranged
pick up station on his bookshelf.

He cast a quick glance around his apartment, wondering if he would see it
again and left, closing the door silently behind him
