[FFML] Fanfic Panel Added at ACen (Re: ACen Cuts Fanfic Panel)

Could be worse - a couple of years back Fanime scheduled the Fanfic Panel
opposite a mandatory meeting for everyone (and their friends who tagged
along) who wanted to be in the Cosplay/Masquerade. Then they put the panel
in a room with 400+ seats and a 40 foot ceiling, across a hallway from the
blasting anime theaters. Not terribly conducive to the UnPanel* format that
I presented. No, we didn't fill all 400 seats, more like 25. I really miss
hotel cons where that's the size of a packed meeting room, and the energy
doesn't just disappear into the ceiling.
Anyway, Over the years the actual content of the panels became a bit
repetitious, and as I get older, and the fans get younger, I was beginning
to feel out of place, or, more to the point, out of time. Besides, these
days I can't seem to put more than 140 characters into a tweet, let alone
produce a decent piece of fiction.
J.
*In an UnPanel, I was the only audience member, and everyone else who showed
up were the panel. My roll was to start the conversation, then keep things
rolling and pick people to speak, and in the end speak less words than many
of the 'panelists'. It's a lot of fun, and since nearly everyone who came
was a fanfic author, the collected experience of that "panel" far exceeded
my own.
