Thanks. Some days it was all uphill, I'm here to tell you.

Well, there are parallels, aren't there? The enemy within and all
that? But no, this is not directly analogous to the S storyline.

Yea, it's always good to ease the tension ... before blowing
everything up.

Actually, this plan did not dynamite the city center. Hild did that
to isolate the area and draw Ranma in. In fact, the Sisterhood has not
used lethal force very often, preferring more subtle approaches. And so
Ranma is faced with this situation, and yes, the math is obvious. One
life for many. But Ranma is still not that cold-blooded. Through it
all what he resents about the vamp's plans is that she brings death and
misery to the lives of so many innocent people. Ranma wants to protect
those people from the monsters, and the vamp, and all the forces that
prey on them. And he's Ranma. He thinks he can beat this, free the
hostage, take out the Maidens, break through the door. If given enough
time. And he probably could. But he didn't have it. Had he acted
right away, he might have been in time to stop the circle from closing
but, as soon as the two Maidens came through the door, although he
didn't realise it, it was already too late.

Yes, all hope is not lost. Yet.

There are a couple of posts that speculate on that, they might help you.

Thanks for the comments!
