Two years?

Man, why is it still fresh in my mind?

Congratulations on getting that done at least.

Soooooo comments:

Saturn + Alienists = this is just the plot of S through a glass darkly,
isn't it? Or has that analogue happened already and this is something
different?

"She's on the money!" "I'm broke!" was probably the best exchange out of
all of them, but that whole scenario was good for some much-needed comedy.

I'm not entirely sure about the whole hostage situation in the
antechamber there. This is a plan that dynamited the city center and
overran it with monsters AS A DISTRACTION; presumably the consequences
will be more dire than just one more person dying. Though I can buy
Ranma not knowing if that death is going to be the spark that touches
everything off, and that, combined with him being a) tired b) wet c)
hungry d) without backup e) weirdly aroused f) did I mention tired?
would probably be enough to stall.

But I'd leave it. Calling it out would just draw attention to it more,
and it does make the whole OH SHIT moment later more impactful. Kind of
a "Hey guys we'll be fine as long as we rescue the priesWHAT ARE THEY
DOING THE FABRIC OF SPACE AND TIME SHOULD NOT BEND LIKE THAT"

Also, good loss. Things Went Wrong, but there's enough floating plot
threads left to believe our protagonists still have a fighting chance.

One last thing, and this is just purely laziness on my part, I have no
idea what's up with the couple of twists at the end. The Dark has
returned? It's got capital letters on it, therefore bad juju. Black
crystals in an impact crater? Bad juju. But, mostly because of two
years, I don't remember why. Any chance you could just tell me? Not in
the story, in a private message, because presumably I'd have a clue if
not for two years.
