At some point I am definitely going to try to revise the first few installments to hopefully address this. Looking back at Part II, I can see that, in my attempt to get all the new character introductions and stuff out of the way, I've ended up with what could feel to some like a "new character overload." I can definitely see how that could be off-putting, and I see where you guys are coming from. My current plan is to TRY and redistribute some of the new character heavy stuff from Part II into the surrounding installments (Part III, and possibly Part I), to... minimize the damage, so to speak -- like being pleasantly sprinkled with water over the course of 40,000 words, rather than blasted with a firehose in the span of 5,000 :P. Though I suppose either one would prove inconvenient if you've ever been to Jusenkyou ;).
Doing the above will be a lot harder than just talking about it, so I don't know when I'll get around to it, but I just wanted you good folks to know that your C&C hadn't gone unheeded. So maybe I'm not really an "unrepentant reprobate," as I suggested when I posted Part III. Nah, who'm I kidding :D
Along with my revisions, I'm also probably going to change the title of the series, as "Life is Complicated" was intended as a working title for the project, and its dreary genericness is wearing on me. I hope the switch doesn't cause too much confusion or annoyance; I'll try to make it clear that it's the same story.
Thanks again for your feedback.
