That's just the way Fuu is.  Fuu's one of those people who can out-polite 
Kasumi.  It's a character trait - Fuu is the polite, calm, refined one.

I'd put this more to the fact that Clef is a Master Mage with no knowledge 
of technology or technological terms, like those of modern medicine.
