Biggest loads I have right now are on Apache and MySQL as MSN and
Yahoo's spiderbots crawl over the sites serviced on this machine.
(FFML's page is still not linked - I'd rather not link that up *quite*
yet, as it's not ready.) For space constraints, the mail spool is
taking up just over 33 MB in messages that are delayed for various
issues (mostly DNS issues on some obsolete addresses that Ecartis may or
may not have culled), and those will probably start to fall off by the
end of the week - and with those, the dead addresses.
Now, if this were the previous incarnation of the server - an old 400
MHz P2 with 128 MB of RAM in an old HP Vectra box with 200 GB of disk
space and a power supply dropped in that didn't fit in the box - then
yes, I'd be having some issues. But while the newer incarnation here
isn't all that great (double the RAM and processor, with the same amount
of space on the disks), I've now been up since my friend down in Oakland
loaded it into his rack. This is considering that today's load was
typical of what I remember back in 1997 - just shy of about 30 messages
on the FFML over the course of my workday. So to be honest, unless
there's a catastrophic hardware failure - erm, excuse me while I
sacrifice a foul-mouthed gerbil or three to shub-internet - I really
don't think we'll have any problems one way or another in this regard.
