I should note that there is definitely a lot of deadwood in the
subscriber list, though. Over a quarter of the accounts on the list
were set to 'vacation'.
In addition, it seems that the version of Ecartis that Phil used had a
bug in it. It was supposed to have set the accounts of anyone who
bounced too many messages to 'vacation' status -- but for some reason it
didn't do that. I noticed an old address of mine -- defunct for five
years -- still on the list, apparently active. Same with about 50
addresses from the long-defunct meta-ISP home.com.
So, the long and the short of it is that I don't really have any idea
how many of the accounts still have anyone actively reading them. I
wouldn't be surprised if there are less than a third of the total
subscriber list still reading.
